Hmm, I have never blogged before so this is an experiment..
I am a bi-ethnic individual, whose mother is Scandinavian and father is African American. I have grown up in an area where bi-and multiethnic couples and families are pretty common.
With this, I notice that I feel more comfortable being around diverse groups of people that with groups composed of all one ethnic group. Is this because of being bi-ethnic myself, or because of the area that I am from?
Are there other people that feel this way, or am I crazy? What is it like in other areas?
I also find that two people who are the same mix of ethnicities can have totally different identities. I have known people that are 'black/white' who identify as 'black' and some who have identified as 'white'. I personally identify racially as 'black' and by my two ethnicities.
